Jackson McCarthy received his B.S. in Chemistry from Furman University in 2020, where he studied organometallic synthesis of titanocene based photosensitizers under the supervision of Dr. Paul Wagenknecht. After graduating, he worked briefly in the custom chemical manufacturing industry at Ortec INC, before returning to Furman University, where he studied the effects of molecular and matrix rigidity on the luminescence efficiency and chromaticity in platinum-based phosphors. Jackson joined the Meyer Lab in December of 2022 and is currently studying the conditions that impact cage escape yields in photoredox reactions involving ruthenium polypyridyl complexes. When he’s not in the lab, Jackson enjoys exploring the great outdoors or watching too much Star Wars with his dog.
