Pierpaolo received his M.Sc. in Physics (2020) from University of Bologna, Italy. There, he performed research with Prof. Daniela Cavalcoli on the effect of metal impurities on the performance of multi crystalline silicon used for photovoltaic applications. After graduating, he pursued his PhD in Physics at the University of Bologna in the group of prof. Luca Pasquini, studying the charge carrier dynamics in nanostructured WO3/BiVO4 heterojunctions used for water splitting. In 2023, he joined Prof Meyer’s lab as a postdoctoral research scholar, and his research now focuses on the characterization of silicon photocathodes in collaboration with the Center for Hybrid Approaches in Solar Energy to Liquid Fuels (CHASE).
