Hayden is from Holly Springs, NC and graduated with his B.S. in chemistry and a minor in mathematics from NC State University. Hayden is in the physical chemistry division and has been working in the Meyer Lab since 2023 to study and characterize electron transfer reactions at semiconductive interfaces, especially as they relate to improving photoanodic efficiency. In his undergraduate research, Hayden worked in the laboratory of Dr. Yi Xiao studying bioanalytical chemistry, where he worked on the HPLC quantification of cannabinoids in cannabis sativa and on the characterization of organic-dyes for new drug assays. This work and his studies prompted an interest in photoelectrochemistry, which lead Hayden to the Meyer lab. Outside of the lab, Hayden enjoys hiking, backpacking, photography, traveling, weightlifting, cooking, and hanging out with his dalmatian-pit bull mix, Zuko.
